Today there are two good questions for Natalie Sisson’s 30 Day Blog Challenge.
1) Who’s websites and online business do I admire?
2) How will Corporate Bamboo grow into a viable business?
Websites I Admire
There are many bloggers I follow and admire, but two that stand out for me.
The Art of Non-Conformity by Chris Guillebeau
Chris has built a thriving online community of people who want fulfilling lives by following their own rules.
From his website: The Art of Non-Conformity (AONC) project chronicles my writing on how to change the world by achieving significant, personal goals while helping others at the same time. In the battle against conventional beliefs, we focus on three areas: Life, Work, and Travel.
His community includes the annual World Domination Summit in Portland – a gathering of enthusiastic people who want to do good things in the world.
I want to build community the way Chris has.
Stratejoy by Molly Mahar
Molly provides courses and community to help people achieve their best selves. She calls Stratejoy a digital wine bar which makes me smile.
Her business approach is similar to how I see Corporate Bamboo evolving. The blogging helps me help others (and determine what topics resonate). The courses take things to the next step so people can learn how to control their stress. And then there’s the community which is a major theme of mine. All good things happen when we have others to share our journey with.
Corporate Bamboo’s Future
I envision this website as having the three functions I listed above: Blog, Courses/Workshops & Community.
Today Natalie asked us how we see our websites becoming businesses. I am developing online courses & workshops. (And I hope to be able to offer retreats which will combine the courses and community (!!).)
I am also interested in partnering with others who offer products and services that compliment the mission of Corporate Bamboo.
Because I certainly don’t have all the answers.
What better way to build community than by working with other like-minded web businesses?
So you have a peek into where I hope to take this website and community. It’s an exciting time.
What ideas do you have? I’d love to hear them.
